What you can get for under $1,000 in 2026
The retail market doesn’t really sell new sectionals under $1,000 anymore — even IKEA’s KIVIK pushes that ceiling. The big-box discount stores (Wayfair, Walmart) offer pieces in this range, but you trade build quality for the price.
Buying used flips that math. An Article Sven that was $2,400 new comes in here at $850. A CB2 Marlow that retails $1,800 lands at $750. The brand reputation, the materials, the build — all the same. The price difference is purely depreciation.
Best fits for under-$1,000 sectionals
- Apartments and condos — these pieces are smaller; they fit through standard apartment door widths
- First sectionals out of college — designer brand, real budget
- Guest rooms and basements — pair the lower price with the bonus that you don’t have to baby it
- Rental properties — durable enough for tenant turnover, designer enough to lift the listing photos
What’s typically here
